Makanaka Ganyaupfu is set to represent the country at the world culinary competition, the 10th Young Chef Olympiad, set for Delhi, India, next week.
Zimbabwe continues to advance in culinary arts, with 19-year-old Ganyaupfu taking her cooking skills to India where she joins more than 50 chefs between the age of 18 and 24 in the contest for the best chef award.
Ganyaupfu is confident of bringing the title home after months of preparation.
“I am so happy to represent the country. I did practice a lot of the recipes and I am well prepared for this competition. I love cooking very much and it’s a passion and I know I will do my best. We are leaving this Sunday and will be grouped for the first round.”
Zimbabwe has been placed in Group C for the competition alongside Indonesia, Netherlands, Singapore, England, Madagascar, Seychelles, Uganda and Bangladesh for the first round.
Only ten countries will qualify for the grand finale.
