SUSPECTED serial killer, Anymore Zvitsva, who stands accused of carrying out a series of brutal attacks across Guruve and Mvurwi has pleaded guilty to 10 counts of rape and attempted murder, with the matter now set to proceed to the High Court.
Zvitsva entered the guilty pleas when he appeared before a Harare Magistrates this Wednesday.
According to court documents, Zvitsva’s first known victim was Modester Isaac of Nyakapupu in Guruve, who was allegedly force-marched into a bushy area, strangled to death and later hanged from a tree in 2024.
The attacks reportedly continued at Mubaiwa Village, where two women fetching water were allegedly ambushed and strangled, with one of the victims later hanged from a tree.
Court papers further allege that Zvitsva ambushed Alice Marangarire in Mvurwi last year while she was searching for cattle, threatened her with a machete and strangled her with a wire.
In the same month, at Mubaiwa Village in Guruve, he allegedly attacked Elisha Dickens Chikwavarara and Dudzai Mazuvaawanda, killing Elisha with an unknown object before strangling Dudzai and hanging her from a tree.
Zvitsva is also accused of killing five family members at Ona Farm in December last year.
He further allegedly raped, strangled and poisoned two women at Bosha Village during the same month.
The accused is also facing allegations of killing another woman at Muzura Farm using a spear.
The total number of suspected victims linked to the accused is now believed to be 19.
Zvitsva was arrested in December last year during a joint operation involving the Zimbabwe National Army, Air Force of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe Republic Police.
