THE Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have identified Anymore Zvitsva as the prime suspect in a multiple murder incident that occurred at Plot 9, Ona Farm in Guruve last Thursday.

In a statement released on Monday, police alleged that Zvitsva fatally attacked five members of the same family. The victims have been identified as Grace Zvitsva (66), Loice Chiringaushe (37), Takudzwa Kariva (5), Tatenda Chirenje (2) and Tendai Zvitsva (40).

Police said preliminary investigations indicate that a neighbour was alerted by disturbances at the homestead and raised alarm, prompting further inquiries that led to the discovery of the incident. Tendai Zvitsva was taken to Guruve Hospital, where he later died.

Five minor children, identified as grandchildren of Grace Zvitsva, were found unharmed in a separate room at the homestead.

The ZRP has since launched an intensive manhunt for the suspect, deploying specialised units including the Support Unit, Criminal Investigations Department, Canine and Horse Patrol sections, as well as intelligence teams. Drone technology is also being utilised as searches continue in nearby forested and mountainous areas where the suspect is believed to be hiding.

Police said the operation is being supported by local communities and traditional leaders.

Investigators further indicated that the suspect is also being linked to recent murder cases in Zimuna Village under Chief Bepura, where three people, Pamela, Kudzai and Tawanda Chipangura, were killed in incidents still under investigation.
