THE Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) 2026 is drawing thousands of visitors to the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo, as the country’s premier trade showcase gathers pace with a strong mix of business, innovation and public engagement.
Running from April 20 to 25 under the theme “Connected Economies, Competitive Industries”, this year’s edition is attracting both industry players and the general public, reflecting its growing appeal beyond traditional trade platforms.
The first three days have been largely dedicated to business and industry engagements, with activity expected to intensify from April 23 as public attendance increases and the fair transitions into a more vibrant, inclusive space.
A major highlight will be the official tour of exhibition stands by President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, alongside Botswana President Advocate Duma Boko, who is the guest of honour at the official opening ceremony of the 66th edition of the ZITF.
At the main arena, visitors are being treated to performances by local artistes and displays by the uniformed forces, including parades, parachute jumps and bicycle stunts.
Across the exhibition halls, stakeholders are showcasing products and services spanning technology, agriculture, manufacturing and innovation, with visitors engaging exhibitors and exploring emerging solutions.
Innovation has taken centre stage, with universities and industry players presenting practical, market-ready solutions.
Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Ambassador Frederick Shava, toured stands under his portfolio and expressed satisfaction with the exhibits.
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education’s stand also attracted significant attention. Director for Communications and Advocacy Mr Taungana Ndoro said traditional dance performances by learners reflect the Heritage-Based Education Curriculum.
He said marimba and traditional dance are not merely entertainment, but a deliberate effort to promote Ubuntu/Unhu/Vumunhu through education.
Mr Ndoro added that showcasing school talent at a commercial platform such as ZITF highlights the link between education, culture and the creative industries.
Across the fairgrounds, music continues to create a lively atmosphere, with DJs stationed at various stands, while motoring enthusiasts are engaging with new vehicle models on display.
Food outlets and vendors are providing a wide range of options, ensuring visitors are well catered for throughout the event.
