ZIMBABWEAN runners dominated the 2026 Econet Victoria Falls Marathon on Sunday, with Tendai Zimuto claiming the men’s 42-kilometre title and Godwin Katakura winning the men’s half marathon.
Zimuto crossed the line first in the flagship 42km race to secure his second Victoria Falls Marathon crown, having also won the event in 2024.
Katakura underlined his status as one of Zimbabwe’s leading distance runners by taking top honours in the men’s 21.1km half marathon.
The annual marathon attracted thousands of elite athletes, recreational runners and fitness enthusiasts from Zimbabwe and abroad, who competed along a scenic route through the resort city, including sections overlooking the iconic Victoria Falls.
The Econet Victoria Falls Marathon has become one of Africa’s leading road-running events, combining elite competition with tourism promotion by showcasing Zimbabwe’s natural heritage to an international audience.
