Story by Mthokozisi Dube

ONE of the country’s oldest football clubs, Zimbabwe Saints are back in the Southern Region Division One after being readmitted into the league at an Annual General Meeting held over the weekend.

Zimbabwe Saints had earlier been booted out of the league after failing to pay its dues.

The Southern Region Division One league kicks off on the 21st of this month.

“Its true we had our AGM and we resolved that we will resume on the 21st of April . We had to replace Chicken Inn with Zimbabwe Saints after Chicken Inn cited company issues in participating in the league,” said Southern region Division One spokesperson, Blessing Mbwanda.

The 18-team league is expected to see Bulawayo City battling for the sole ticket to the Premier Soccer league alongside ambitious Talen Vision and Adachi.

Meanwhile the Northern Region division one league kicked off at the weekend with title aspirants Mwos edging Black Rhinos 3-2 at Ngoni stadium in Norton.

In the Central Region, former premier league side Chapungu opened the campaign with a three-nil win over Beitbridge, Bishopstone and FC Platinum development side shared the spoils after a two-all draw.
