PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to join fellow regional leaders in Manzini this Friday for celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of King Mswati III’s reign.

The commemorations, being held at Somhlolo National Stadium, also coincide with the monarch’s 58th birthday.

Thousands of people from across Eswatini are converging on the stadium for the landmark event, which also reflects on the country’s development under King Mswati III’s four decades of leadership.

President Mnangagwa arrived in Eswatini on Thursday evening, joining King Letsie III of Lesotho and President Duma Boko of Botswana.

A total of six Heads of State are expected to attend the celebrations.

Zimbabwe and Eswatini continue to enjoy warm bilateral relations, anchored by strong ties between Harare and Mbabane.

King Mswati III further strengthened those relations when he officially opened the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair in 2023, while President Mnangagwa reciprocated by officially opening the Eswatini International Trade Fair last year.

The celebrations are expected to reaffirm regional solidarity and the enduring diplomatic and economic partnership between Zimbabwe and Eswatini.
