EXPO 2025 Osaka has ended in Japan’s Kansai Province after running for the past six months, with Zimbabwe having managed to pitch its huge investment opportunities on the global stage.

Attracting close to 30 million visitors since opening its doors, Expo 2025 Osaka lived up to its billing after a total of 158 countries and seven international organisations took part in the exhibition.

During the closing ceremony, Japan’s Crown Prince Akishino said he hopes the world continues with the Expo’s theme of “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.”

Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru echoed a similar message of unity.

Zimbabwe took part in the World Expo, showcasing its vibrant culture, with President Emmerson Mnangagwa visiting the expo in July, where he pitched the country’s investment opportunities on a global stage.

While there, President Mnangagwa further met with officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which has been assisting Zimbabwe towards achieving sustainable agriculture to ensure food self-sufficiency.

Early this month, Vice President Cde Kembo Mohadi also visited the Zimbabwe pavilion at the expo, expressing hope that the country can learn from the global showcase in marketing Brand Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe pavilion at the expo, which received visitors estimated at nearly 3 000 per day, showcased the country’s rich heritage and innovative spirit, with a focus on promoting people-to-people interaction, trade and tourism.

Expo 2025 Osaka envisioned a world united through art, culture and technology, with its iconic Grand Ring symbolising “Unity in Diversity.”

Zimbabwe participated at the World Expo under the theme: “Beyond the Limits.”
