Zimbabwe is keen to upscale relations with Mexico especially in agriculture and water harvesting.
This was revealed by Vice President Kembo Mohadi, who is leading a Zimbabwean delegation for the swearing-in of Mexico President-Elect Claudia Sheinbaum on Tuesday.
“We are here at the invitation of Mexico for the swearing in of its President-Elect and our aim is to enhance relations between the two nations. “This is in line with our vision of engagement and re- engagement drive so that we do not have diplomatic relations but economic cooperation between the two republics. We also want Mexican officials to visit Zimbabwe as we build these relations. Mexico has indicated interests in our agriculture and water harvesting and we see opportunities in these areas given that Zimbabwe is an agro- based economy yet we are working on more water bodies to mitigate drought so our coming here is that important,” he said.
The incoming President, Her Excellency Claudia Sheinbaum is the first woman to be elected President of the North American nation that has a population of over 131 million people and is the second largest economy in Latin America and the fourth largest in the Americas with a Gross Domestic Product GDP of US$1.5 trillion.
Its exports include industrial products, vehicles, oil, agricultural produce and minerals.
