THE Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has confirmed its readiness to conduct by-elections in Masvingo Ward 7 and Nkayi Rural District Council Ward 16, which are scheduled for this Saturday.
Briefing the media in Harare on Friday, ZEC Deputy Chairperson Ambassador Rodney Kiwa said all logistical arrangements for the polls had been finalised.
“We have secured enough ballot papers, and polling stations will be open by 7 am. We will ensure everyone exercises their right to vote,” he said.
He also urged voters to adhere to the voting code of conduct, which also speaks to maintaining peace and order.
“We encourage our voters to vote peacefully and adhere to the ZEC code of conduct,” he said.
Masvingo Municipality Ward 7 has five candidates, while Nkayi Rural District Council Ward 16 will see four candidates battling it out on Saturday.
The two seats became vacant following the deaths of the respective incumbents.
