THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) was among several organisations honoured by St Giles Medical Rehabilitation Centre for their continued support in empowering children living with disabilities, as the institution renewed its call for wider community and corporate assistance to sustain its life-changing programmes.
ZBC, alongside Zuva Petroleum and Varichem Pharmaceuticals, was celebrated as one of the key stakeholders whose continued partnership has helped strengthen the Centre’s efforts in delivering life-changing services to children living with disabilities.
The recognition came during the St Giles Stakeholder Appreciation and Hostel Fundraising Breakfast Meeting held in Harare, where the wife of Vice President General (Rtd) Dr Constantino Chiwenga, Colonel Miniyothabo Chiwenga, served as Guest of Honour.
Colonel Chiwenga commended St Giles for its unwavering dedication to restoring dignity and hope through accessible rehabilitation, education, and healthcare services for children and adults living with disabilities.
She praised the Board, management, and staff for their resilience and innovation in maintaining operations despite financial challenges, noting that their work continues to transform countless lives across Zimbabwe.
Expressing concern over the financial strain facing the St Giles Hostel, which provides accommodation and care for children with neurological conditions, Colonel Chiwenga called on the corporate sector, development partners, and individuals to rally behind the Centre’s mission.
She pledged financial support toward the hostel’s survival and encouraged others to do the same, stressing that inclusive development begins with caring for society’s most vulnerable.
