THE ruling ZANU PF party through its Women’s League is intensifying its efforts to empower once marginalised communities in the Midlands Province, with various women groups receiving starter packs.
The empowerment drive, which seeks to unlock value and improve incomes for thousands of women in the Midlands Province dovetails with the Second Republic’s vision of rural industrialisation.
As part of supporting the vision, the league has procured a hatchery machine with the capacity to hatch three thousand six hundred eggs for women in the Midlands Province.
“We want to applaud the Second Republic for walking the talk after elections. This will play a vital role in our lives, and we are going to improve livelihoods in our communities,” a beneficiary said.
ZANU PF Midlands Province Chairlady, Cde Tsitsi Zhou, stated that empowering women will not only improve household incomes but will also help build resilient communities.
Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Owen Ncube, commended the Women’s League for its role in transforming local communities.
“We are pleased to see women actively participating in projects that uplift both individuals and the province. This initiative will contribute meaningfully to the province’s GDP. As government, we remain committed to supporting such efforts.”
Launching the Midlands Women Empowerment Programmes in Gweru, ZANU PF Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Cde Mabel Chinomona, emphasised that economic empowerment is central to the attainment of Vision 2030.
“Women, this is your time. We must play our part in helping the country realise its vision, and that can only be achieved through hard work. Vision 2030 is not a political slogan, it is a call for inclusive economic growth,” she said.
Various women from the province’s eight districts also displayed various empowerment projects after benefitting from the women’s league empowerment drive.
