ZANU PF rolls out social support initiative in Mbare

MBARE residents have welcomed a social support initiative launched by the ruling ZANU PF, describing it as a timely boost to household welfare.

The outreach programme, led by the party’s Harare provincial leadership, forms part of broader community-level interventions aimed at complementing existing government social protection measures.

ZANU PF Harare Provincial Chairperson, Cde Godwills Masimirembwi, said the initiative reflects the party’s commitment to delivering on its electoral promises following the 2023 harmonised elections.

“The leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa has found its niche in road construction not only on highways but also in towns and residential areas. We have been afforded title deeds to secure accommodation, and as a party, that is why we are fully behind the term extension for the President and Parliament,” he said.

The outreach includes food assistance and empowerment programmes targeting vulnerable households and small-scale entrepreneurs. Provincial leaders say the intervention aligns with Government’s broader social safety net framework under Vision 2030, which seeks to attain upper middle-income status.

Residents who spoke during the programme said the assistance would help ease economic pressures at household level.

“This support helps us secure food for our families. We want to thank the President for remembering us. When leaders come to the community like this, we feel included and supported,” one beneficiary said.

Provincial leadership further indicated that the programme has reached more than 100 000 people, with funding of over US$2.5 million directed towards livelihood empowerment initiatives.

“The President has made it his thrust that no one and no place is to be left behind. Through his servants, including Cde Tagwirei, a number of empowerment programmes are being rolled out. This food assistance programme has benefited over 100 000 people, and more than US$2.5 million has been channelled towards empowering livelihoods. The politics of delivery means practical, visible action ensuring that development is felt in every household,” Cde Masimirembwi added.

Officials say such initiatives are intended to reinforce social protection systems while advancing inclusive development objectives.
