The Geo Pomona Waste to Energy project is courting international interest, with Zambia the latest country to seek partnership on the waste management initiative.
The interest in the Waste to Energy project confirms Geo Pomona’s growing significance as a model to manage waste in the region, with Zambian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Derrick Livune, stating his country’s interest to replicate the initiative.
“Zambia has an equally challenging problem of waste and this is a learning experience for us, hence we are looking forward to engage (the Zimbabwean) government to collaborate,” he said.
Geo Pomona Executive Chairperson, Dr Dilesh Nguwaya highlighted their preparedness to collaborate with other nations on the project.
“I’m grateful for the gesture shown by these countries to visit this site and Zambia has come here to witness how this project is transforming waste management in the country.”
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini Russel Dlamini and Lesotho’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Ntoateng Lebona were at the site to appreciate the model, while European Union Ambassador to Zimbabwe Jobst Kirchmann also toured the facility this week.
