VP Mohadi tours Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe

Vice President Kembo Mohadi toured Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe (PLZ) in Goromonzi this Thursday to appreciate mining activities at the project, which is one of the largest hard rock lithium processing plants in Africa.

Vice President Mohadi, who was accompanied by Mashonaland East Minster of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Itayi Ndudzo, gained insights into PLZ operations which are making a significant contribution to the national economy.

Cde Mohadi noted that the mining sector is key to Zimbabwe’s economic prosperity.

The company has invested over US$700 million in the project, creating over 2 000 jobs for locals.

The firm’s Goromonzi project can process 4.5 million tonnes of hard rock lithium into concentrate for export per annum.

The mining project was commissioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in June 2023.
