YOUTHS have been urged to embrace the opportunities availed by the Second Republic to spur the country towards an upper-middle-income society by 2030 as envisioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Eminent figures from the Beitbridge business and farming community, government departments, and entrepreneurs came together to discuss harnessing the region’s abundant resources for economic growth.
The event, spearheaded by the youth-led Vision 2030 Movement, emphasised the importance of embracing opportunities offered by the Second Republic’s initiatives to propel Zimbabwe towards an upper-middle-income society by 2030.
“As young people, we should have a mindset to develop, a patriotic mindset, and think positively so that we achieve economic growth in our country,” said Vision 2030 Movement’s chairperson, Paul Mavima Junior.
Stakeholders who gathered for the premier event concurred that unity of purpose is critical for the attainment of the country’s vision.
Beitbridge District Development Coordinator Mrs Sikhangezile Mafu said, “As the public and private sectors of the country, we not only stand as the current drivers of Zimbabwe, but we further need to take up our position as role models and mentors of the youth to shape the future.”
“As a new ministry, we are on a drive to improve the skills of the youths so that they play their role in the development of the country. This is in line with Vision 2030,” said the Minister of Skills Audit and Development, Professor Paul Mavima.
The business conference laid bare various opportunities being availed by the government to empower the youth.
The Permanent Secretary in the office of Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Dr Benson Dube said, “As we gather here to break the economic barrier, we call for the public, private sector and the business community to embrace the cultural heritage of the province and ensure that our ideas must subscribe to promoting the rich culture of Matabeleland provinces. Young people must engage the government to get land and many other empowerment opportunities.”
Organised by the Vision 2030 Movement, the conference served as a platform to connect the business community, private sector, public sector, and government, fostering collaboration for a prosperous future.
