THE Government says the United States of America has no right to meddle in Zimbabwe’s internal affairs.
This comes after United States top envoy to Zimbabwe, Pamela Marie Tremont held a news conference in Harare on Thursday where she appeared to question the country’s democracy.
In an interview with ZBC News in Harare this Saturday, the Minister of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Jenfan Muswere said the recent utterance are undiplomatic as her country has no right to meddle in the affairs of a sovereign state.
He added that Zimbabwe is a better example of democracy than the United States.
Dr Muswere noted that the new US envoy should instead work towards improving diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Ambassador Tremont presented her credentials to President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday, assuming her diplomatic mission in Zimbabwe.
Her remarks come at a time when the United States is grappling with a battered image of a failed democracy after an assassination attempt on Presidential Aspirant and former President Donald Trump.
