Trust the process, partners in the Global Compensation Agreement told

Story by Bruce Chahwanda, Political Editor

The ruling ZANU PF party says partners in the Global Compensation Agreement must trust the process, highlighting that the government’s title deeds programme will not affect compensation for improvements made at their former farms.

In a media briefing at the party headquarters in Harare this Thursday, ZANU PF Secretary for Information and Publicity Ambassador Christopher Mutsvangwa said President Mnangagwa has negotiated the Global Compensation Agreement in good faith, hence the need for partners to be patient.

“I want to assure the parties in the Global Compensation Agreement that President Mnangagwa negotiated in good faith. Improvements will be paid for and negotiations are ongoing,” he said.

Turning to opposition elements’ shenanigans, Cde Mutsvangwa said it has become an annual script that opposition politicians seek attention by tainting the country’s image during this time of the year.

He said the latest bidding by Tendai Biti and exiled Saviour Kasukuwere to seek the attention of America by discrediting the country’s new Land Tenure System as a way of inviting illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe ahead of review next month, has become predictable.

“There are no parallels between Zimbabwe and South Africa’s land question. In March the US will review executive orders against Zimbabwe, Tendai Biti and Savior Kasukuwere want to draw parallels between our land and that of South Africa, they are different scenarios,” he said

On controversial war veteran Cde Blessed Geza, Cde Mutsvangwa called him to order.

“Cde Bombshell is wrong, what he has been uttering is being handled by the ZANU PF national disciplinary committee, but he must stop being abused,” he said.

The government’s commitment to the Global Compensation Agreement saw the disbursement of US$20 million this week.
