MATABELELAND South launched its Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme in Matobo district this Friday, with more than 35 traditional leaders from across the province benefitting.

The government is accelerating the distribution of farming inputs across the country, with traditional leaders in Matabeleland South Province being the latest to benefit.

“These inputs are coming at the right time because they will promote the Pfumvudza /Intwasa programme,” Chief Bidi said.

“We are thankful for these inputs. What is left is for us to go to the field so that we can do our best to fight hunger,” Chief Masendu added.

“Our subjects are composed of different people, from elders and orphans, so as chiefs, we will make sure we try our best to support them through these inputs,” Chief Tshitaudze weighed in.

The government’s continued support to farmers and traditional leaders is expected to ensure food security in the country.

“Today, we are launching our Provincial Pfumvudza Intwasa here at Bidi in Matabeleland South. It has been proven beyond doubt that farmers who work using this method always have a good harvest,” Matabeleland South Deputy Director of Agricultural Technical and Extension Services Bhekilizwe Ncube said.

“As the security forces, we will continue supporting government programmes and at the same time, working together with our traditional leaders so that there is development everywhere,” Zimbabwe National Army, Chief of Staff Quartermaster Staff, Major General Simo Maseko noted.

The farming inputs were facilitated by the Zimbabwe National Army.
