NATIONAL Hero Brigadier General (Rtd) Mpandasekwa Mzheri will be buried at the National Heroes Acre on Monday.

Friends and relatives have described the late national hero Brigadier General (Rtd) Mpandasekwa Mzheri as a true patriot who served his nation with distinction.

Brigadier (Rtd) General Mzheri, whose Chimurenga name was Khetani Khanye, was a gallant son of the soil who fought alongside other liberation cadres for the country’s freedom.

Others believe the national hero’s military exploits and selflessness must be emulated by every Zimbabwean to protect national interests.

Born in 1950 in Mberengwa District, Brigadier General (Rtd) Mzheri was among a group of 800 cadres who underwent military training at Morogoro Training Camp in Tanzania in 1974.

He is survived by four children, Anesu, Ropafadzai, Tinashe and Kganye.
