Serial rapist caged 232 years behind bars

Story by Peter Chivhima, Courts Reporter

A 30-year-old Prosper Bhule of Bulawayo has been sentenced to 232 years behind bars by the Bulawayo Magistrates Court after he was found guilty of 16 counts of rape.

The serial rapist started his escapades in 2018 when he raped an unsuspecting victim in New Luveve, Bulawayo after he followed her to a bushy area.

The court heard that Bhule continued committing crimes until 2022 when he was arrested.

According to the court papers, out of the 16 victims raped by Bhule, 13 are juveniles, mainly his relatives staying in South Africa.

The rapist would follow his unsuspecting victims until they reached secluded places before he would produce an okapi knife and threaten to stab them if they did not give in to his demands.

Buhle was arrested on the 18th of March in 2022 in Bulawayo, a day after raping a complainant who reported the matter to the police.

The serial rapist, who was initially facing 18 counts of rape and one attempted rape case, will be behind the prison walls for the next 232 years.
