HARARE – ZIMBABWE’S development trajectory continues to gain momentum, with the Second Republic under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa spearheading transformative programmes across all sectors of the economy.

Driven by a people-centred and inclusive development philosophy, the ZANU PF-led government has launched and completed major infrastructure and social development projects that have uplifted livelihoods nationwide.

Speaking on the sidelines of a national development review, ZANU PF Secretary General, Dr Obert Mpofu, commended the leadership of President Mnangagwa, noting that his servant leadership approach has resulted in tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens.

“We have witnessed economic development on a scale not seen before. This has been achieved through President Mnangagwa’s servant leadership style which is inclusive and consultative from grassroots to the highest level,” he said.

Dr Mpofu highlighted key milestones including the modernisation of the Beitbridge-Chirundu Highway, the construction of strategic dams, and the establishment of business units in communities, all of which have opened the economy to local and foreign investment.

“The President has also created an enabling environment for investment, attracting massive infrastructure projects such as new steel plants and road networks. Agriculture and mining are recording historic output levels, while tourism is flourishing,” he added.

The transformative agenda is also visible in rural development initiatives, with increased visits by the President to remote communities a move Dr Mpofu described as “unprecedented in Zimbabwe’s political history.”

“President Mnangagwa has visited all provinces, engaging citizens directly and taking note of their needs. This form of leadership promotes national unity and ensures no one is left behind,” said the veteran politician.

Under the Second Republic, flagship projects such as the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport upgrade, the Mbudzi Interchange, and irrigation schemes linked to newly built dams have transformed access to services and markets for many communities.

Through the Engagement and Re-Engagement Foreign Policy, Zimbabwe has also witnessed renewed diplomatic and trade relations, enhancing opportunities for growth and cooperation.

“We are seeing new doors opening on the international front, all because of the President’s consistent diplomacy. This has repositioned Zimbabwe positively on the global stage,” Dr Mpofu said.

As the country marches toward its Vision 2030 goal of achieving an upper-middle-income economy, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive development, infrastructure growth, and service delivery that reflects the aspirations of the people.
