THE well-attended ZANU PF inter-district meeting held in Penhalonga on wednesday was an opportunity for the party to reflect on the successes recorded under the Second Republic.
Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, who is also a ZANU PF Central Committee member, outlined the Second Republic’s achievements and underscored the importance of ensuring President Mnangagwa leads the country until 2030.
“The Second Republic has done a lot of developmental projects including Harare-Beitbridge road rehabilitation and other roads and construction of state-of-the-art Parliament, among other developments in line with Vision 2030 targets. Here in Mutare, we have a company producing medical oxygen .We also have dams constructed under the Second Republic such as Marovanyati. We are saying people should appreciate works being done by President Mnangagwa. He has achieved a lot while other projects are still being implemented. The vision ends in 2030 and we should do elections at the end of the vision ends. The elections are good but if they are conducted at a wrong time they can retard progress,” he said.
ZANU PF Manicaland provincial chairperson, Cde Tawanda Mukodza added that the call for the extension of President Mnangagwa’s term of office is a collective voice of the ruling party.
“The call for president Mnangagwa to fully implement the 2030 vision is a collective position within ZANU PF. The calls started at inter-district meetings going up to the province and the central committee and subsequently the people’s conference hence it is a binding party position. This is the reason we are supporting President Mnangagwa for him to be in power beyond 2030,” he said.
Meanwhile, the ZANU PF Mutasa Inter-district meeting saw party members receiving free medical treatment under an outreach mission aimed at improving access to health care.
