A total of 4465 graduands are set to be capped by Great Zimbabwe University Chancellor President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the Great Zimbabwe University’s 18th graduation ceremony this Friday.
Of the graduands, 11 will graduate with doctorate degrees, 1229 will graduate with postgraduate degrees, while 3224 will graduate with undergraduate degrees.
Of all the graduands, 2849 are females, while 1616 are males.
The graduation ceremony comes at a time when government is placing strong emphasis on innovation to drive the industrialisation agenda in line with national vision.
The Great Zimbabwe University has been spearheading a number of Innovation programmes since the establishment of an innovation hub at the institution among them the an innovation centre for dryland agriculture in Chivi, production of wine beverages from indigenous fruits, a bird deterrent system for agriculture purposes among others.
Great Zimbabwe University was also recognized for being the best innovating University at the 2024 Presidential Innovation fair that was held recently.
The graduation ceremony is running under the theme, ” upscaling innovation and industrialisation towards vision 2030″
