President Mnangagwa set to officially open ZEDCON

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to officially open the 2024 Zimbabwe Economic Development Conference (ZEDCON) this morning.

Organized by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion, in collaboration with various stakeholders, the conference aims to explore strategies for climate-proofing the economy, building resilience, and driving economic transformation in the face of climate change.

Key topics up for discussion include bolstering public expenditure policies and programs to build resilience and mitigate drought effects as well as strengthening public-private partnerships to finance climate resilience and transformative programs.

The conference brings together a diverse range of participants, including government officials, parastatal executives, academics, private sector representatives, and embassy officials.

Notably, this conference comes at a time when Zimbabwe is celebrating the successful introduction of its new currency, the Zimbabwe Gold (ZiG).
