President Mnangagwa calls for loyalty and patriotism in ZANU PF

By ZBC Reporter

ZANU PF President and First Secretary, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, has cautioned against a reactionary group within the party, warning that their influence will soon be curtailed.

Addressing the party’s 125th Ordinary Session of the Central Committee at ZANU PF headquarters in Harare on Thursday, President Mnangagwa condemned the actions of certain members who, he said, were undermining the party’s revolutionary values.

“It is most unfortunate that a retrogressive trend has emerged, with some members of our party showing their ‘chameleon-like’ characters as willing accessories to our detractors for the purpose of desecrating our rich revolutionary heritage,” the President said.

“Those who are not prepared to tow the correct line of the revolution must fall by the wayside. I urge us to introspect, look each other in the eye, and pledge to be exemplary, loyal, and unflinchingly patriotic. At this juncture of the revolution, we all have the sacred duty to foster unity, peace, love, harmony, and respect across our provinces.”

Turning to electoral matters, President Mnangagwa commended the party for recent by-election victories and called for renewed focus on upcoming polls.

“In this spirit, I congratulate the party for the by-election victories recently held in Mashonaland West Province. Makorokoto / Amhlope. Our focus now shifts to winning Gutu East and Glen View South Constituency, here in Harare Province, where the youthful Comrade Tsitsi Tawomhera is our candidate.”
