THE Zimbabwe Pool Association (ZIPA) is on a drive to take pool to disadvantaged communities, with a tournament set for Binga next month.
The Gazaman Pool Tournament returns to Binga’s Simatelele area bigger and better with a focus on unearthing idle local talent.
The stage has been set for the second tournament after a call to hold more games in the area.
In its inclusive development plan, ZIPA organised a six-team tournament set for April 5.
Bulawayo Pool Association spokesperson Ozzy Dziko says they have been tasked by the ZIPA to spread the game to all corners of the country.
“We have had calls to spread tournaments and ZIPA has asked us to go and stage a second tournament in Binga. We intend to have all districts playing the game. So more of these tournaments will dominate our calendar this year,” he said.
The Gazaman singles tournament, which bursts into life for the second time, will run under the theme: “Bringing communities together, harnessing talent”.
Munashe Maponda is the current holder of the previous tournament and this year’s contest will also feature guest players.
