Zimbabwean champions Ngezi Platinum Stars are in a bullish mood ahead of the CAF Champions League preliminary round encounter against AS Maniema Union set for Lusaka, Zambia this Saturday.

The lack of approved venues back home has forced the Mhondoro-based side to host AS Maniema Union of the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Heroes Stadium in Lusaka

Even though the adopted home ground is 700km away from their fortress, the players are ready to give it their all.

Ngezi Platinum Stars striker, Obriel Chirinda said, “We are ready as a striker my job is to score goals and if I do that on Saturday I give my team a better chance to win the match but as a collective we are ready and we want to win the match at all costs.”

Nelson Chadya, one of the few survivors from the team that played continental football in 2017 for Ngezi Platinum believes the experienced players have to step up.

“We are in a good mood and the players with international experience have to lead from the front for the younger guys to follow suit,” said Chadya.

Ngezi Platinum Stars are not new to continental football having represented Zimbabwe in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup.
