Popular Hwange playwright Lawrence “the Penpusher,” Moyo has become an instant hit after showcasing Nambya content to the world through social media.
Inspired by the idea of showcasing Nambya culture to the world, Moyo is pushing local content on various social media platforms.
Moyo is a man on a mission who is well connected with his Matabeleland North roots.
For him Nambya is not just a language but a way of life which should be preserved for posterity.
“I realised that the Nambya language faces a lot of challenges. We do not have books or videos, we do not have many tools to preserve our language. I then decided to begin producing this content through films to help assist its preservation,” he said.
The producer chooses laughter and a lot of humour as an integral approach to tackle tough issues.
The biggest objective is the desire to ensure people are entertained in a light manner through their language, hence I take all my content to platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and others,” said the Penpusher.
The Hwange community is benefiting from the initiative, with hopes that other like-minded individuals will join the crusade to put Zimbabwe’s culture on the global map
