HIGHLANDERS FC will be aiming to turn their fortunes around when they face FC Platinum in a crucial Premiership encounter at Barbourfields Stadium this Friday.
The build-up to the match has not been without challenges, with head coach Benjani Mwaruwari acknowledging internal difficulties while maintaining confidence in his squad.
“When I came here, everyone did not like me being here. The players are giving it their all, but somewhere, somehow, someone is not doing their job. Imagine a player waiting for a month to get a permit,” he said.
Despite the off-field issues, Bosso remain focused on securing their first win after recording four consecutive draws. The team has shown resilience, although goals have been hard to come by in recent matches.
Hope is pinned on Zambian forward Isaac Ngoma, who is yet to feature as he awaits his work permit.
Coach Mwaruwari remains upbeat ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
“It is a big game. FC Platinum are a big team, but we have prepared very well for the game, apart from the two players who were with the national team.”
The match will also see a reunion between Mwaruwari and his former Warriors teammate Joel Luphahla, now head coach of FC Platinum.
Luphahla said his side is ready to rise to the occasion.
“We have been scoring, but our biggest mistake has been to concede a lot of pressure, not from anyone, but from our set target. We will go there with a winning mentality,” he said.
With both teams eager for positive results, the stage is set for a competitive showdown, as Highlanders look to channel their determination into a breakthrough performance in front of their home supporters.
