THE court has postponed Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader Walter Magaya’s rape and fraud cases to December 9, after he appeared in court this Tuesday for routine remand.
The State made an application for postponement, highlighting the need to complete their investigations, including taking some statements from witnesses.
Magaya’s co-accused in the fraud cases, his wife, Tendai, was also remanded to the same date.
The couple is currently out on bail.
Magaya paid US$3 000 bail, while Tendai paid a bail quantum of US$500.
The two are facing fraud charges linked to their companies, Planet Africa Private Limited and Yadah Connect Private Limited.
They allegedly defrauded 13 complainants of more than US$49 000 and R195 000 in a botched land deal.
The State alleges that the Magayas misrepresented to congregants that they had residential stands for sale in various parts of the country.
It is further alleged that the couple solicited investments in various business ventures, promising a 50 % return within six months.
The National Prosecuting Authority has disclosed that Magaya is now facing 78 counts of fraud.
Additionally, he has been charged with five counts of rape.
