Logan Cup final round, Mountaineers gun for glory

The Logan Cup has reached an exciting stage with Southern Rocks leading the pack with 122 points as the teams head to the final round.

Southern Rocks maintained their lead at the top of the Logan Cup table and will be hoping to get the better of the likes of Eagles and Mountaineers in the final round of the tournament.

The first day of the final round got underway with second-placed Mountaineers battling third-placed Eagles at Old Georgians.

The two teams are gunning for nothing short of victory to keep the cup race alive.

Eagles won the toss and elected to field and saw their opponents laying a strong foundation for victory after the partnership of Tony Munyonga and Brian Bennet got Mountaineers got them to 462 for a loss of five wickets in 85 overs.

Munyonga scored a double century of 237 while Bennet had a century with 171.

Across the capital at the Harare Sports Club, there is a battle of the bottom-placed sides featuring Black Rhinos and Tuskers.

Rhinos won the toss and put Tuskers in to bat hitting 330 runs for a loss of 2 wickets in 88 overs.

The action continues this Friday at the same venues.
