LIEUTENANT Colonel Francis Ndlovu has officially assumed command of the 4.1 Combat Group in Masvingo Province, succeeding Colonel Maddison Moyo, who has been transferred to the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Headquarters to take up a new appointment.
The handover-takeover ceremony, marked by military displays and traditional military protocol, saw Colonel Moyo formally relinquish command to Lt Col Ndlovu.
Reflecting on his tenure, Colonel Moyo expressed gratitude for the support he received and highlighted the unit’s achievements.
“During my tenure at this Combat Group, we managed to successfully accomplish both operational and training commitments as directed by Commander 4 Infantry Brigade. I urge you to work as a team and support the new Commander in order to achieve your set objectives.”
“I humbly accept the responsibility to command 4.1 Combat Group with the seriousness it deserves. I take this responsibility with humility, gratitude and a deep sense of duty.”
Commander 4 Brigade, Brigadier General Oscar Tshuma, who was the Chief Witnessing General emphasised the importance of unity, loyalty, discipline and patriotism among members of the Zimbabwe National Army.
“Only through unity can we achieve our goals. Let me hasten to say the achievements made by 4.1 Combat Group so far are a true reflection of the cordial working relations that exist among the security services and the local community. I therefore expect the incoming Commanding Officer to work tirelessly towards the continuation of such relations and interaction.”
The Zimbabwe Defence Forces has a deeply entrenched tradition that marks the transition of leadership and responsibility, underscoring the institution’s enduring spirit and the unwavering trust shared among its members.
