THE Hwange High Court Circuit, which has been in session since this Monday, is expected to conclude more than 30 murder cases this week.
High Court Judge Justice Nokuthula Moyo is presiding over 35 murder cases, with some of them having already been concluded.
Among those wrapped up is one where a juvenile, 16-year-old Phathisani Bhebhe was sentenced to an effective 12 years in prison for fatally stabbing a 23-year-old fellow partygoer with a homemade knife.
In another matter concluded Andrew Thebe from Nkalakatha village in Nkayi will spend 18 years behind bars for the murder of his partner after a misunderstanding over conjugal rights.
Tryfoward Mpofu from Chief Mtshane area in Insuza was sentenced to eight years in prison, with two years suspended after he was found guilty of culpable homicide.
The court proved that in a dispute over alleged infidelity, the accused buried his wife alive in a shallow grave assuming she had died after beating her up.
The Hwange High Court Circuit is expected to wrap up all 35 cases this Friday.
