The Hills Luxury Golf Estate has the full hallmarks of Vision 2030 which envisages the continued growth of the country’s property sector through the enabling investment climate created by the Second Republic.

The US$300 million Hills Luxury Golf Estate will be the first of its kind in Southern Africa with branded villas and hotels among a host of other modern facilities whose designers and architects are from Portugal, Spain and France.

West Properties Chief Executive Officer Ken Sharpe explains the scope of the project, saying it is set to become a top notch tourist attraction in the country.

“We have private villas, branded homes and hotels including a shopping mall. We have a golf course designed by world renowned golf course designer in the world that is set to make this project a tourist attraction. There is going to be over 800 housing units for residential stands that will house more than 4000 people,” he said.

Ratepayers will benefit immensely from the partnership where the City of Harare has a 30% stake in the project.

“We decided that instead of selling individual stands it will be noble to create huge income for the City so it gives is more income as a council,” noted, Harare Mayor, Councilor Jacob Mafume.

National Housing and Social Amenities Minister Honourable Zhemu Soda noted that the project dovetails with government’s national housing development matrix enshrined in the National Development Strategy One.

“Government’s set targets to provide sustainable housing is on course in tandem with the National Development Strategy One by reducing the housing backlog while also changing the face of Harare especially this project,” said Hon Zhemu.

The investment being made by the private sector in property and housing has accelerated under the Second Republic as the march towards Vision 2030 continues to take place across all sectors including infrastructure, energy, agriculture and human capital development.
