THE Government has called on graduates from tertiary education institutions to embrace innovation, integrate technology, and apply problem-solving skills to accelerate national development, particularly in the education sector.

This call to action was made during the Seke Teachers College graduation ceremony held in Chitungwiza this Thursday.

Guest of Honour, Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Honourable Simelisizwe Sibanda, emphasised the critical role of graduates in advancing the objectives of Education 5.0, a model designed to position higher education as a catalyst for development through teaching, research, community service, innovation and industrialisation.

“As the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, we celebrate this milestone graduation ceremony, strengthening our educational system. We expect these graduates to embody Education 5.0 values, innovation, technology integration, and problem-solving skills, driving national progress and prosperity.”

The graduates pledged to enhance the education system by inspiring young minds to reach their full potential.

“I am proud to have completed my teacher training and I am excited to contribute to the nation’s education system. I am committed to shaping young minds and instilling in them the values of innovation and critical thinking that Education 5.0 embodies,” one of the graduates said.

“I believe that our generation of teachers has a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the country’s future. We are not just educators, we are mentors, role models, and nation-builders. I am eager to bring my skills and knowledge to the classroom and inspire my students to reach their full potential,” another graduate added.

The Second Republic introduced the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 Model to equip higher education learners with the problem-solving skills and critical thinking necessary to propel national development.
