Chicken Inn returned to winning ways with a crucial victory over Dynamos at Barbourfields Stadium, but head coach Tonderayi Ndiraya says his side must be more clinical in front of goal.
The Gamecocks responded strongly after back-to-back derby defeats to Highlanders and Bulawayo Chiefs, easing mounting pressure with a morale-boosting win on Sunday.
Malawian forward Rahim Binwell Katinji starred with a brace, handing Dynamos their first defeat of the season and reigniting Chicken Inn’s campaign.
Now on three goals, Katinji’s form has intensified competition in the attacking line, particularly with Cameroonian striker Man Ykre Dangmo Ngnowa Hapmo.
Despite the result, Ndiraya was quick to highlight missed opportunities.
“I am happy to beat Dynamos… We created many chances and, if we were more clinical, it could have been a different scoreline. I am happy Katinji scored twice, and that sets a challenge for Hapmo to also deliver,” he said.
For Dynamos, the loss disrupts an otherwise steady start to the campaign.
Head coach Genesis Mangombe admitted his side struggled against a determined opponent.
“It was going to be difficult against a wounded side… we tried throwing in attacking options, but it just wasn’t our day,” he said.
The defeat comes at a critical moment for the Glamour Boys, with the Harare Derby looming, a fixture likely to test their resilience and title ambitions.
