DIPLOMATS accredited to the country have welcomed continued engagements with the government of Zimbabwe, saying they do not only strengthen bilateral relations but also culminate in increased investment inflows to the country.

The importance of engagement among countries was reiterated by diplomats who attended the new year’s reception by President Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House, Harare this Friday.

Dean of African Ambassadors and Rwanda’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency James Musoni said the interaction shows the long-standing relations between Zimbabwe and other nations.

“The engagement signifies the long-standing relations with Zimbabwe. We will continue to seek ways of advancing peace and security in the region. We congratulate you on your assumption of duty as SADC Chairperson and congratulate you on the election of Kirsty Coventry as IOC president, which is not only good for Zimbabwe but for the continent at large. We are happy with the conducive environment for engagement which allows nations to prosper,” he said.

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira said diplomats should continue exploring ways of strengthening relations.

“Through our continued engagements, we explore ways of strengthening relations. We continue to pursue engage and re-engagement thrust and we remain committed to this agenda.”

Zimbabwe has adopted the friend-to-all and enemy-to-none policy stance in its engagement and re-engagement agenda.
