BUSINESSMEN Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu have been convicted of fraud, with the duo now waiting for sentencing.
In his ruling, High Court Judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda noted that the State managed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the pair committed the offense.
Chimombe and Mpofu orchestrated a fraudulent tender scheme, swindling the government of over US$7 million.
The pair manipulated a government tender for the Presidential Goat Pass-on Scheme, designed to uplift rural communities through goat distribution.
Mpofu and Chimombe used Blackdeck Pvt Ltd, a company allegedly created as a front, to secure the tender through fraudulent means.
The pair submitted forged Zimbabwe Revenue Authority tax clearance documents and National Social Security Authority compliance certificates, which were mandatory for tender eligibility.
The pair now awaits sentencing, with the pre-sentencing hearing set for October 31.
