INSIZA-THE late Chief Ndube of Msithi Village in Insiza, Matabeleland South Province, who passed away on June 4, will be laid to rest this Tuesday.
Her burial is attended by high-profile traditional leaders, among them the President of the Chiefs’ Council, Chief Mtshane Khumalo, his deputy Chief Fortune Charumbira, and several chiefs from across Matabeleland South.
Born Nonhlanhla Sibanda, Chief Ndube was installed as substantive traditional leader in 2007, following the death of her father, the late Chief Andrew Sibanda, in 2002.
She passed away at the age of 40.
Chief Ndube was widely respected for her unwavering advocacy for women’s rights and girl child empowerment in traditional communities, earning her recognition as a progressive voice within Zimbabwe’s chieftaincy.
She is survived by her husband and two sons.
The burial of Chief Ndube markes a solemn moment for the Insiza community and the wider traditional leadership structure, which remembers her as a principled and visionary leader who broke barriers for women in traditional leadership.
