THE Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is transforming healthcare services in Masvingo Province, following the delivery of 40 hospital beds, blankets, and other essential medical supplies to Chivi District Hospital.
The newly upgraded facilities have brought much-needed relief to the local community, allowing the hospital which serves 25 clinics in the district to expand its capacity, accommodate more patients, and enhance the quality of healthcare services.
“We are happy that our hospital has received new beds, blankets, sheets, pillows, and other sundries. This will go a long way in ensuring the institution offers improved healthcare services. Now the hospital can accommodate more patients referred from clinics across the district,” a beneficiary said.
“Many of the old beds and blankets had become worn out, but beneficiaries expressed gratitude to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and area legislator Honourable Maoneke for the gesture, which will benefit not only Chivi Central but the entire district,” a community member said.
The consignment is expected to enhance access to healthcare services for the rural populace.
“Chivi District Hospital is a referral centre serving nearly 30 clinics and a population of about 200 000 people. Our equipment was outdated, but this development will capacitate us to deliver quality healthcare services,” Chivi District Medical Officer, Dr James Murahwa said.
Area legislator, Honourable Xavier Maoneke paid tribute to the Second Republic for availing the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which funded the project.
“President Emmerson Mnangagwa continues to promote rural development through improved access to healthcare. Using the Constituency Development Fund, we decided to capacitate our district hospital because development can only be achieved by a healthy nation. We are also implementing other projects to improve clinics in our communities,” he said.
The provincial leadership reiterated the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of rural communities by supporting development initiatives.
“Our government has been at the forefront in promoting access to healthcare services, and today we are witnessing one of those milestones here in Chivi. Such efforts require all of us to come together and support development programmes that uplift our communities,” Masvingo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira said.
“As a party, we are pleased with the work being done by our Members of Parliament in supporting President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030.” ZANU PF Masvingo Provincial Chairperson, Senator Robson Mavhenyengwa said.
“The developments we continue to witness in our communities show the determination of President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his administration to transform livelihoods,” ZANU PF Politburo Member, Cde Paul Mangwana said.
Chivi Central continues to benefit from several programmes under the Second Republic, including the construction of clinics and classroom blocks, as well as the establishment of village business units, among others.
