President Emmerson Mnangagwa has described the late national hero , Cde Jaison Chirinda as a loyal , persistent, consistent, brave and disciplined veteran freedom fighter who sacrificed his youth for the liberation struggle .
The President, who was addressing mourners at the national shrine where Cde Chirinda was laid to rest said he together with the late national hero served 10
years at Khami Prison as they both awaited to be executed for carrying out guerrilla attacks in the country.
President Mnangagwa said memories of the selfless sacrifice made by many freedom fighters and civilians who suffered at the hands of the white settler remain etched in the national memory .
The Head of State said as the nation honours Cde Chirinda who chose to take up the fight for independence , as the country pursues development, there is need for young boys and girls as well as men and women who have the same tenacity to push the national vision forward .
