THE transformation of the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s (ZBC) Montrose Studios in Bulawayo, being spearheaded under the government’s 100-Day Cycle Programme, marks a major step forward in the digitisation of Zimbabwe’s broadcasting sector.

Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Omphile Marupi, toured the studios this Friday, where he underscored the importance of the project in promoting both devolution and the government’s vision for a modernised media landscape.

“This is a massive project. The transformation of these studios is an indication of how His Excellency, President Emmerson Mnangagwa is promoting devolution as well as the digitisation of the broadcasting sector,” Dr Marupi said.

With Bulawayo known as the country’s arts and cultural hub, the transformation of the Montrose studios is set to enhance the national broadcaster’s capacity to deliver quality content.

“The city of Bulawayo is known as the cultural hub, so the transformation of these studios will enhance the institution’s capacity to produce quality content,” Dr Marupi said.

Significant ground has been covered to date, with most equipment having been procured and awaiting installation.

Upon completion of the project, the Montrose Studios will boast of two television studios and eight radio studios.
