SPINNING enthusiasts are in for a treat this weekend with the 6th edition of the ZKS spinning contest set for Bulawayo on Saturday.
After mesmerising the Bulawayo community in the last two editions of the ZKS spinning contest, Zambian spinner Jericho Mono of the Team Nelly fame will this Saturday offer lessons to aspiring spinners in Bulawayo.
“We have seen spinning as a sport and our hope is to tap on the drills by prominent spinners. The coming in of well known spinners will help nurture talent,” said a Bulawayo resident.
Another said, “ZKS have an academy, so having the base coming to teach our kids will help shape and nurture talent. Who knows, the best spinner may come from this side.
Organiser, Zakhele Mlilo says the goal is for the Bulawayo community to learn from the best.
“We have local spinners, but after careful consideration, we said why not bring Mono to come and work alongside our local spinners and teach these young stars. It’s not a competition per say, but we are harmonising all these other little known sport codes. We even want the young boys to do skating in front of that crowd. we have also extended the invitation to South African spinners as we seek to capacitate our academy.”
Spinning is slowly becoming a big sport in Bulawayo after the establishment of the ZKS spinning arena.
