BULAWAYO-THE 2025 edition of the Bulawayo Arts Festival officially kicked off this Monday, with a vibrant carnival parade that wowed spectators as it wound its way from City Hall to Inxwala.
The festival’s opening ceremony was marked by a colourful procession of artists, showcasing their talents and cultural heritage.
The artists were thrilled to march around Bulawayo, celebrating their culture and traditions.
“Our traditional animal skin attire brought smiles to people’s faces, and wearing it helped preserve our cultural heritage. Smiles lit up the parade route as our cultural identity shone through. It was a moment of pride and joy,” one participant said.
“Preserving culture is about keeping traditions alive. By celebrating our heritage, we pass it on to future generations. Culture is the heartbeat of our community. Embracing your culture can indeed foster a sense of pride and identity. Celebrating one’s heritage can be a powerful way to connect with community and roots,” another added.
The Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Honourable Albert Mavhunga, who participated in the parade, noted that the event helps preserve culture and provides a platform for local artists to showcase their talents.
“The festival provides an opportunity for Bulawayo to share its rich history while also offering artists a platform to showcase their talents. This is a significant event, held annually, and it ties in well with the recent launch of Culture Month by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, in Chiredzi.”
The Bulawayo Arts Festival is a vibrant celebration of culture and heritage, showcasing local talent, preserving traditions and promoting artistic expression.
