BULAWAYO-THE Bulawayo Arts Festival came to a spectacular close at the weekend, as local music groups lit up the Bulawayo City Hall open grounds with energetic performances, drawing large crowds in a vibrant celebration of local culture and talent.
The festival finale, held in the heart of the city, featured Khakhathi Band, who delivered a commanding performance that stole the show and kept fans on their feet. Their captivating stage presence and musical excellence earned resounding applause from an enthusiastic audience.
Mxolisi “Mr Bones” Ndlovu, frontman for Izinduna Zedhale, also wowed the crowd with their popular track “Faka 2”, which had festivalgoers dancing late into the night.
“The energy from the crowd was amazing. As artists, this is what we live for to connect with our people through music and celebrate our culture,” Mxolisi “Mr Bones” Ndlovu said.
Revelers, including families, youths and music enthusiasts, expressed their joy and appreciation for the event.
“I really enjoy being in noisy and crowded places, especially with great music like this,” a young man said.
“Seeing our favourite artists in person was amazing and we even got to shake their hands,” a fan said.
The week-long celebration reaffirmed Bulawayo’s status as Zimbabwe’s cultural capital, with artists from across the city showcasing a diverse mix of music, dance, and creative expression.
The festival also provided a platform for emerging talent, while boosting the city’s profile as a centre for the arts and entertainment.
