AmaZulu coach Arthur Zwane has hailed Zimbabwean striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya as a “sniper” after he scored the winner in Usuthu’s 2–1 victory over Polokwane City in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 on Tuesday night.
Ngwenya struck the decisive goal as AmaZulu progressed in the competition, continuing an impressive run of form since joining the South African side from FC Platinum in June last year.
The forward has now scored eight goals for Usuthu, six of them in the Betway Premiership.
Zwane praised the striker’s overall contribution, saying his work rate and mentality set him apart.
The AmaZulu coach added that Ngwenya has the potential to compete for the golden boot if he maintains his current intensity and consistency.
Ngwenya’s performances have strengthened his reputation in South African football, with the Zimbabwean forward emerging as one of AmaZulu’s key attacking threats this season.
