THE Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) has reaffirmed its commitment to training and producing top-notch officers capable of defending the country’s territorial air space.

This pledge was made during a colorful ceremony at the Air Force Headquarters, where newly promoted officers were celebrated in accordance with military tradition.

Commander AFZ Air Marshal John Jacob Nzvede challenged the newly promoted officers to exceed expectations.

“Promotion comes with greater responsibilities and expectations from superiors and subordinates. I challenge the newly promoted officers to rise to these expectations and be custodians of our legacy of excellence.

As leaders and commanders at various levels let me remind you that military goals and objectives are attained through teamwork you are only as good as your team.”

Air Marshal Nzvede also highlighted the need for continuous self-improvement among AFZ members.

“It gives me great pleasure to preside over this promotion party because it shows the Airforce continues to produce officers who are worthy to take up higher responsibilities in the defence of Zimbabwe’s airspace and territorial integrity.

“I want to challenge you not to be complacent. You should continue to improve yourselves because being complacent, especially in the military means risking national security. Promotions are not just a routine, it is a deliberate process, and we have over the years made sure we have competent leaders.”

The formal proceedings were followed by entertainment, as the officers traded their guns for dancing shoes and enjoyed music by Andy Muridzo.
