AFGHANISTAN have completed a three-nil T20 International series whitewash over Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club this Sunday, clinching the final match by 9 runs in a thrilling finish.
The visitors, who opted to bat first, posted a mammoth 210 for 2 in their 20 overs, powered by a blistering 92 from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and 60 from Ibrahim Zadran.
The duo’s 159-run opening stand set the tone for Afghanistan’s dominance and was the highlight of an iconic whitewash.
In response, Zimbabwe fell just short of the total, all out for 201 after 20 overs despite a spirited chase.
Sikandar Raza top-scored with 51 off 29 balls, Brian Bennett made 47 off 31, while Ryan Burl’s quick-fire 37 from 15 deliveries kept hopes alive, putting together an 85-run partnership, which renewed Zimbabwe’s hopes.
Youngster Tashinga Musekiwa added 28 runs, but Zimbabwe collapsed in the 18th over after losing two quick wickets.
This win marks Afghanistan’s third consecutive T20I series whitewash over Zimbabwe, having also posted such victories in Harare in 2022 and 2024.
