Mashonaland West pushes integrated service delivery as key projects advance

MASHONALAND West Province is intensifying efforts to improve coordination among government departments as authorities seek to accelerate service delivery and sustain momentum on key development projects.
The renewed focus emerged during a provincial interface of government departments held in Chinhoyi this Thursday, where officials reviewed progress across sectors and underscored the importance of accountability and collaboration in driving development.
Permanent Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Josphat Jaji said decentralisation and infrastructure investments are improving access to essential public services, particularly in previously underserved areas.
“In Siakobvu, the registry of citizens has been difficult in the past, but now the Public Service Commission acted and decentralised services further; it has been approved and is yet to be functional. The energy sector of the province improved immensely,” he said.
Mr Jaji said the province’s electricity supply has also strengthened through increased local power generation, improving conditions for productive sectors, including agriculture.
“Energy supply during the summer cropping was fairly stable because of more power generation within the Mashonaland West Province. These generation units include the Norton 210 megawatts thermal power plant in Chegutu district, Chegutu 50-megawatt thermal power plant and several major solar plants in the province. The rural electrification drive has improved a lot in the Siakobvu area, targeting mainly schools and clinics.”
He added that other flagship projects supporting the province’s development agenda include AI-powered grain silos in Mhangura, cement and brick-m
